About the Department
Our history, leadership, mission and vision
Founded as a Computer Science Unit under the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, the department began offering certificate courses before earning National Diploma (ND) accreditation. In 2008, the unit was elevated to a full department, with Dr. Oladele Campbell as pioneer Head of Department. Under his leadership, the department secured full accreditation for the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Science.
Since 1999, multiple cohorts of ND, HND, and PGD graduates have passed through the department. The specialised HND tracks — Software & Web Development and Networking & Cloud Computing — have successfully graduated their first cohorts.
